Staff:
PSSDC Camp Staff consists of individuals with experience in summer camping, coaching, athlete development and child development. Counselors are high school and college age students with both the expertise and desire to work with young people in a camp setting. Coaches are of the highest quality who have demonstrated both knowledge of their particular sport and working with children. Based on standards set by the American Camp Association, our staff to camper ratio will be 1:8. our staff will participate in an Orientation and Training prior to the camp season.
Program:
The PSSDC program will occur both indoors and outdoors on our 29 acres of outdoor space. Beside learning each individual sport, campers will take part in many other activities including hiking, games, arts and crafts and other traditional camp activities. We are partnering with Evolve to also include athlete development- stretching, speed and agility drills, fitness skills, cool down techniques- in our daily program. Our goal is for all campers to learn new skills, make new friends, feel part of a community and have fun! We are also excited about using our NEW Outdoor Field for all of our programs!
Special Guests and Visits:
Each week this summer the PSSDC campers and staff will be visited by a "special guest" or have a special event sometime during the week. Ideas that we are still finalizing include: visit from the Akron Zoo, drive-in movie, visit from the Animal Guys, Inflatable Day, visit from DJ/Magician and others.
*The special guest and event schedule will be finalized before the first week of camp.
Pinnacle Sports Integrates Character Training:
Pinnacle Sports has partnered with Coaching 4 Life to integrate character training into all of our programs. To learn more about Coaching 4 Life visit the website at www.coaching4life.ws. Every week participants will work on a different character trait such as: self-control, attitude, effort, respect and consistent and others. Participants will be asked to define, describe, demand and demonstrate the traits throughout the session.
